PETALING JAYA: Subang MP Wong Chen has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad (MDV), effective today.
In a Facebook post, the PKR MP said he was qualified for the post since he used to be a corporate lawyer, adding that his appointment had been vetted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“(MDV) is a state-owned enterprise providing financing facilities to the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
“I have also declared my assets and signed an anti-corruption pledge. In addition, I have taken a position that I will not chair the board committees on risk management, remuneration, audit, and financing and investment.
“This should minimise any conflict of interest issues,” said Wong Chen.
He also said he was elected chairman of the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on international relations and trade.
The three-term MP said the PSC will scrutinise the policies of the foreign, investment, trade and industry, as well as economy ministries.
“It is an honour to serve Parliament again in this capacity. I was previously the chairman of the same PSC from 2019 to 2020 for a short period of four months before the Pakatan Harapan government was toppled.” - FMT
