Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has asked Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to bear the consequences of his action over the latter's alleged insult of the Selangor sultan.
According to him, the PAS election director's remark pertaining to the role of the state ruler on the appointment of Selangor menteri besar was rude and amounted to treason.
"He (Sanusi) poked fun at the sultan of Selangor. This is just rude and treasonous. That's the politics of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"I don't want to say too much. But (by making such statements) after multiple warnings... (he better) be ready to face the consequences of your action," Berita Harian quoted Fahmi (above, left) saying in his speech at the Jelajah Madani programme in Kuala Selangor, last night.
Fahmi did not elaborate on the consequences.
The minister was responding to Sanusi's remark at a recent ceramah, where he allegedly insulted Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in choosing the state's menteri besar.
During the video of the speech, which has gone viral on social media, Sanusi can be seen comparing the Kedah sultan and his Selangor counterpart, whom he alleged had chosen a “lousy” menteri besar.
Fahmi, who is also PKR information chief, said Sanusi's remark was clearly against the reminder by various quarters to refrain from making statements related to 3R (race, religion, and royalty) sentiments.
"The Conference of Rulers has decreed on the matter. The Prime Minister (Anwar Ibrahim) and the Inspector-General of Police (Razarudin Husain) have issued similar reminders.
"Looks like Sanusi has ignored all that. This is why I cannot accept many things that he (Sanusi) does," said Fahmi.
Police report
Meanwhile, a PKR leader has lodged a police report, seeking action against Sanusi on the matter.
The report was lodged by Shah Alam PKR information chief Suryamuizzudin Kamarudin at a police station in Section 9, Shah Alam, this morning.
In the report, Suryamuizzudin said Sanusi had touched on 3R sentiments with his remark, and said that the royal institution should not be used as campaign fodder for elections. - Mkini
