Chegubard lodges report against PM, pol-sec over alleged abuse of power

Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin has lodged a counter-report against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the latter’s political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi.

Badrul, better known as Chegubard, claimed that the duo, in making a report against him on Thursday, had abused their position to pressure the police to silence him.

He said this came after he lodged a report with the MACC on Tuesday over the ownership of the premier’s personal residence in Kajang, Selangor.

Badrul claimed that the house in Sungai Long where Anwar lives, belonged to a business tycoon.

“Previously, Farhan said they didn’t instruct the police. Come on! You are the political secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. You lodged the report at the police station - that is putting pressure on the police to take action (against me).

“This is a counter report and we will be furnishing all the details to the police so that they can investigate the case, aside from the MACC,” he told reporters in front of the Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.

Aside from Anwar’s house, Badrul had also accused Anwar of utilising several luxury cars that the Pakatan Harapan chairperson did not own.

This includes a Jaguar allegedly belonging to Yayasan Aman Bhd - of which Anwar is its founder and adviser - and a BMW allegedly owned by a Selangor businessperson.

On July 13, Farhan lodged a report under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act against Badrul, former Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan and blogger Raggie Jessy Rithaudeen over their remarks, alleging they had defamed Anwar.

"Evidence that strongly rebuts the false claims will be handed over to the police as part of the investigations," Farhan had said.

‘Mystery’ lease

Anwar’s lawyer Sankara Nair, who accompanied Farhan that day, clarified that the prime minister had signed a 10-year lease in 2020 for the personal residence in Sungai Long while the borrowed luxury cars have since been returned to their owners.

In response, Badrul said that Anwar’s leased house is a “mystery”, asserting that long leases are usually made for premises, business properties, farms, shops and factories, not residential houses.

“I am doing this to ensure that the prime minister’s asset declaration and the government leadership is transparent, and not an attempt to hide their wealth via proxy to avoid the people knowing their true wealth,” he added. - Mkini
