Kelantan MB office lodges police report against Harapan, BN youth wings

The Kelantan menteri besar office has lodged a police report against Kelantan Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional youth wings over allegations of “dubious” allocations included in the state’s 2023 Budget.

This follows a report filed by the youth wings at the MACC, urging a probe into an alleged RM30 million special project fund in the budget.

"A police report will be filed against the individuals involved for the authorities to conduct further investigations.

"The public is advised not to be influenced by the allegations, which are motivated to tarnish the image of the menteri besar and the state government ahead of the state elections," the office said in a statement today.

Malaysiakini reported that the Kelantan Harapan and BN youth wings had lodged the report at the MACC state office in Kota Bharu yesterday.

Kelantan Harapan youth chief Hazmi Hassan questioned the purpose of the allocation and its potential connection to the state elections.

He said the utilisations of allocations would usually be publicly disclosed when it comes to large-scale state budgets.

However, he pointed out that neither the state government nor the menteri besar provided any information regarding the details of the particular project fund.

Meanwhile, the Kelantan menteri besar also issued a clarification addressing concerns surrounding the fund.

The office explained that the fund involves allocations for food supply (RM10 million), small-scale projects (RM8 million) and flood management projects (RM5 million).

In addition, it also involved microcredit loans (RM3 million) as well as community water projects under the water supply and its alternative (RM4 million).

"For the record, the Kelantan Budget 2023 was tabled, discussed, and approved with the support of all Kelantan assemblypersons during the third session of the 14th state legislative assembly on Nov 27, 2022," the statement said. - Mkini
