RAUB: Three days after foiling an attempt to clear a piece of land belonging to the state government, the Pahang enforcement unit (UPNP) elite team yesterday thwarted another illegal land extraction activity at Kampung Bukit Pampong in Dong near here.
West Pahang's UPNP enforcement officers seized an excavator and a three-tonne lorry during the 2.50pm raid.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said acting on a tip-off, the UPNP members were deployed to the site to conduct surveillance.
"They spotted an excavator clearing and loading soil (laterite) into a three-tonne tipper lorry. Once fully loaded, the lorry began to move towards the main road when the enforcement team stopped the vehicle.
"The driver failed to provide any documents or permit for soil transportation. Minutes later, another man approached the enforcement team saying he was the owner of the site where the soil was being transported.
"He told the enforcement team that the soil clearing and transportation works were under his responsibility but could not provide any documents to support his claims," he said in a statement today.
Wan Rosdy said the excavator and lorry was seized under Section 426 of the National Land Code 1965 for unlawful extraction or removal of rock or sand.
He advised land owners who wanted to extract and transport soil to seek approval or advice from the district and land office as their activities could be an offence under the National Land Code 1965.
