PETALING JAYA: A Kelantan Pakatan Harapan leader has called for an investigation into possible misuse of state government funds meant to ferry student voters home for the state elections
PH Kelantan youth chief Zulhazmi Hassan said a report has been lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission calling for an investigation.
He said a sum of RM30 million had been allocated in the state budget to bring home students to vote in the state assembly elections next month.
However, he said the cost to charter the hundreds of buses needed would not use up the RM30 million allocation, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“So where is the remaining balance of RM30 million that needs to be spent within this year?” Zulhazmi was quoted as saying
He alleged that PAS, the ruling party in Kelantan, had allocated the funds to 30 state seats that the party needs to win and retain power.
PAS is able to continue to govern the state if they secure victory in these areas, he added. “This issue involves a great amount of public funds, therefore it’s important that an immediate investigation be carried out by MACC,” Zulhazmi said. - FMT
