An Amanah leader today lodged a police report against Abdul Hadi Awang, urging the authority to investigate the PAS president’s statement equating Pakatan Harapan to Israel.
Amanah mobilisation bureau secretary Mohamad Faridul Amini Suhaimi said Hadi's latest Minda Presiden PAS article published on the Islamist party's Facebook was a "lie, malicious and slanderous" against the ruling party.
"What Hadi wrote was also seditious against the authority of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which can jeopardise the country's harmony and create disunity among its people.
"His statement can lead to animosity between the rakyat, and this is an offence that can be investigated under the Penal Code, Sedition Act, Communications and Multimedia Act, and other relevant laws," he said in a copy of the police report sighted by Malaysiakini.
Yesterday, PAS published on its website and several social media accounts Hadi's latest article titled 'How Israel and Harapan Follow the Method of Hypocrites in Fighting Islam'.
In his writing, Hadi alleged that the ruling party employed a tactic practised by the hypocrites during Prophet Muhammad's era to force his companions to abandon the Islamic struggle.
This, he alleged, was done by denying opposition MPs financial funding, a tactic Hadi claimed was similar to what Israel was doing with Hamas in Palestine.
