It comes to no surprise that vernacular schools seem to be the popular choice of most middle and upper-class parents when selecting their school children to enroll for primary education in Malaysia today. The lower class have no other choice but to enroll their school children in national schools.
Vernacular School is established under the provisions of the Education Act 1966 and if not mistaken was agreed by our fore-founders of Independence which most Malay politicians refer to the "social contract".
A recent Federal Court ruling further enhances the credibility of the existence of the vernacular schools ln Malaysia.
Vernacular schools concentrate in providing excellent school education system unlike the national schools who spent time on non-productive and waste of time teachings on school children to achieve a certain group's political agenda.
Umno Youth leader Dr Akmal Saleh should stop raising this vernacular school issue to hoodwink the people with his so-called unity idea while trying his best to fulfil his own political agenda.
Most VIP parents are also sending their school children to these vernacular schools or to international schools or overseas to educate their school children. Dr Akmal should ponder about this situation rather than creating friction among the races in Malaysia by raising this 'unwarranted' and 'agreed upon' issue.
For Dr Akmal's information, Malaysia had always been a multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious country, which Dr. Akmal should learn to respect at all times.
Unity will only be achieved by being fair to Malaysians irrespective of their race, culture or religion.
