Cabinet didn't discuss Najib's judicial review - Fahmi

The cabinet did not discuss the judicial review filed by former Prime Minister Najib Razak to serve the rest of his jail sentence under house arrest over the RM42 million SRC International corruption case.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the cabinet also did not discuss Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s affidavit supporting Najib’s judicial review application.

“We did not discuss this matter... (Zahid’s affidavit was also) not discussed today,” he said during a press conference at the Communications Ministry in Putrajaya today.

Earlier, Zahid, who is Umno president, supported Najib’s claim regarding the alleged existence of an addendum order for him to serve the remaining of his six-year prison sentence under house arrest.

Zahid supported the claim through an affidavit filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on April 9.

He claimed that during a meeting at his house on Jan 30, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz informed him about the existence of the addendum order dated Jan 29.

“I truly believe that for a sufficient period of time I saw and read the addendum order, and I clearly saw all its contents and that it was part of the applicant’s (Najib’s) pardon process, which was an addition to the main order, both dated Jan 29.

“Therefore, I confirm the existence of the addendum order dated Jan 29 issued by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“I also believe that apart from myself and Tengku Zafrul, there were others in the government who have also seen the addendum order. Specifically, I am aware that Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has also seen a copy of the addendum order and can confirm the same,” said the Bagan Datuk MP.

Govt secretariat to discuss funds for opposition

Fahmi also announced that today’s Unity Government Secretariat meeting is expected to discuss allocations for the opposition.

“A leadership meeting is being held this afternoon, it is understood that allocations for the opposition will be discussed.

“However, there are no full details yet,” he added.

Asked about the shooting incident at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Fahmi said the authorities will further tighten security at the country’s entry points.

He said this is not only for security reasons but also to curb smuggling attempts. - Mkini
