PETALING JAYA: A key road connecting Cameron Highlands and Simpang Pulai was reopened at noon after being closed due to an early morning landslide.
Cameron Highlands police chief Azri Ramli said the landslide, reported at around 2am, saw Jalan Kampung Raja blocked by earth and fallen trees.
“Cleanup work has been completed, but the relevant authorities are still monitoring the location,” he said, reported Bernama.
It was earlier reported that the landslide had disrupted traffic in both directions, with road users having to take alternative routes via Sungai Koyan in Lipis or the Tapah road to access Cameron Highlands.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the landslide was caused by continuous heavy rain since yesterday afternoon. No damage to homes or casualties have been reported. - FMT
