Man gets 12 months’ jail for punching wife in face

PETALING JAYA: 

A man has been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment by the magistrates’ court in Kuching for punching his wife in the face twice.

Barry Guillen, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, read with Section 326A of the same Act as it involved his spouse.

Guillen was accused of punching his wife at a house in Semeba, Kuching, at 3.45am, last Saturday, according to The Borneo Post.

He had asked his wife to go to the house because their child was unwell.

However, when she arrived in a car, the accused emerged from the house, opened the car door, and punched her on the right side of her forehead.

He had also asked his wife to return RM150 which he gave earlier for their child’s expenses. He became angrier when she only handed him the remainder of RM80.

He then punched her again, this time on the right side of her mouth.

Guillen was arrested last Sunday after his wife lodged a police report.

A medical report confirmed that she suffered from pain on the right side of her forehead and lips.

Guillen was unrepresented. - FMT
