Syed Saddiq wants KL boarding school raided over abuse claims

 

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman urged the police to raid a Kuala Lumpur boarding school and investigate those involved in bullying and abuse.

In a thread on X, he asked if the authorities were waiting for someone to be killed before acting on claims of abuse.

He shared images from today’s Sinar Harian newspaper, which depicted the alleged abuse of a student at the school.

The student in the report claimed to have been forced to place his feet in scalding water, resulting in burns.

The report did not name the school but described it as a “military-style boarding school” in Kuala Lumpur.

“At military school, they (bullies) are taught to abuse and bully. Entering the military university, rising in rank, they immediately want to be educated on how to ‘kill’.

“At school, bullies are taught to soak their (victims’) feet in boiling water. At university, when you get promoted, you immediately want to iron the bodies of other people’s children,” Syed Saddiq said.

The remark on ironing bodies refers to a National Defence University (UPNM) cadet who last October claimed he was bullied and burned with an iron.

Earlier today, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek reminded all schools not to hide bullying cases.

Bullying cases must be reported to the Education Ministry’s Aduan Buli portal, she said.

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq shared a separate report from the same paper in which a former student’s mother claimed all students at the school were treated as punching bags.

Syed Saddiq called the alleged abuse cases inhumane and embarrassing.

“This is the Royal Dera (Abuse) College, not the Royal Tentera (Military) College,” he quipped.

Another report similarly claimed students who wished to climb the ranks must become a bully first and that they will be taught how to hit others. - Mkini
