
In a parliamentary reply, she said RM44.94 million was allocated to Chinese schools, RM17.83 million to Tamil schools, and RM16.19 million to mission schools.
Another RM134.33 million was allocated to upgrade the toilets at these schools, which are also known as government-aided schools.
“This is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure cleanliness and comfort for students and staff,” she said.
Fadhlina said the government also covers school utility bills of up to RM5,000 a month.
“This rate remains unchanged in line with the government’s financial capacity.
“However, we are open to reviewing this as necessary to strengthen support for these schools,” she said.
She said the government monitors school conditions and adjusts its funding based on national financial considerations.
“The education ministry will continue to ensure government-aided schools receive the necessary support to maintain a high-quality education system,” she said.
She was responding to Fong Kui Lun (PH-Bukit Bintang), who asked about potential increases in aid for these schools as electricity and maintenance bills go up.
Fong raised concerns that the bills were straining the budgets of these schools, which rely on government funding and donations. - FMT
