PAS non-Muslim wing wants to shake up DAP in Malacca with service centre

PAS Non-Muslim Supporters’ Wing (DHPP) is convinced it can disrupt DAP's stronghold of Malacca by establishing its first community service centre there.

The wing believes that in choosing Malacca as the location of its first service centre in the country, it can expand its influence and gain public trust for the Islamist party.

Malacca DHPP chief Shawn Loh said he is confident that this move will weaken DAP’s influence in the state over time.

"Our presence will definitely unsettle DAP’s position. We believe it will weaken DAP’s influence in Malacca in the long run.

"They will no longer be in their comfort zone," he told Malaysiakini today.

The service centre in Taman Peringgit Jaya was launched last Saturday in a ceremony officiated by Malacca PAS commissioner Zulkifli Ismail.

Also present were DHPP chief N Balasubramaniam and DHPP information chief G Balachandran.

When asked about potential seats the PAS wing might contest in the future, Loh declined to comment, saying the matter would be left to the party leadership.

"We believe our presence in Malacca’s political landscape will bring change.

“We will continue to serve from now on to ensure Perikatan Nasional’s victory in the next election," he said. - Mkini
