KUANTAN: Those attending the 'Himpunan Pahang Bermunajat Raja Berdaulat' tonight at the Kuantan City Council Field 1 to display solidarity with the state's royal institution are urged to refrain from provocations.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman advised participants to follow police instructions throughout the event and refrain from any actions or statements that could lead to tension.

"We will be deploying policemen at the solidarity event, including some in plainclothes to monitor the crowd and control the traffic if required along the nearby main stretch. I inspected the field and nearby areas earlier today," he told reporters after attending an event with the Pahang contingent police retirees here today.

The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is scheduled to attend the solidarity gathering organised by the Pahang government.

The ruler will join the congregation at the Sultan Ahmad 1 state mosque for the Maghrib, Solat Hajat, Yasin recital, Doa Selamat and Isyak prayers.

People across Pahang, regardless of their race, religion and political background, have been invited to join the event where the deputy Pahang Mufti is expected to deliver a talk at the Kuantan City Council field 1 after Isyak prayers. - NST
