HUMANS have always been attracted to the unknown or the forbidden. Extending from this statement is the fact that people are willing to use questionable short cuts to gain their heart’s desire.
It is perhaps this dark desire that fuels the demand for Perkhidmatan Bomoh Pengasih, an account on TikTok which provides black magic services.
At a time and age where technology reigns, one can only wonder how people could believe such things.
But apparently the services provided by Perkhidmatan Bomoh Pengasih are very effective.
Several posts on the TikTok account showed customers who gave glowing feedback on the effectiveness of the treatment, further giving thanks to the man who provided it, named Atok Abdul Razid.
A few videos even showed an altar, complete with figurines and idols which were likely used to cast the spell. Lit candles and swirling incense smoke give the impression of some horror local movie.
Malaysians, the bulk of them being superstitious, were quick to condemn the account.

“No need to use a bomoh. Practice the loving prayer of Prophet Yusuf AS yourself. Want to pray what? Everything is in the Quran. Read & practice it,” suggested @MochitAzlan.
“If that person’s the cheating type, he’ll cheat anyway. Even if you go and use a Thai shaman,” said @greenjasmine95.
Then there was @theiceraf suggesting that the authorities apprehend Atok Abdul Razid.

Also, @mbarbalis felt that the contents posted on the TikTok account were frightening.

Perhaps the best comment came from @Dean_MindVortex who said, “Did Malaysia ever do witch hunts like in Europe? If not, we should start now.”
Whether Atok Abdul Razid’s “services” work or not is beside the point. The real mystery is why, in an era of smartphones, artificial intelligence and instant access to information, some people still believe the quickest route to love lies not in honesty or self-improvement, but in candles, charms and a TikTok bomoh.
The popularity of such services says less about black magic than it does about human nature. When emotions take over, even the most rational people can become vulnerable to promises of impossible solutions.— Focus Malaysia
