The coalition says the renamed Parti Cinta Malaysia became its newest member after the Registrar of Societies approved its name change on July 8.

In a statement, PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition had been informed that RoS had approved Parti Cinta Malaysia’s (PCM) application to change its name to Parti Wawasan Negara on July 6.
“As such, Wawasan has officially become a component party of PN under its new name with effect from that date, in accordance with Clause 6.5 of the PN constitution,” he said.
The announcement comes a week after Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin confirmed that RoS had approved amendments to the party’s name, logo and constitution.
Hamzah said the approval covered the party’s change of name and address, amendments to its constitution under Section 11 of the Societies Act 1966, and permission to use its new flag and logo under Section 50 of the Act.
Previously, Wawasan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan said the party was a rebranded version of the Penang-based PCM, with the transition agreed upon months earlier and involving no financial transaction.
Huan, who co-founded PCM in 2009, said the party’s senior leadership had unanimously backed the takeover by Hamzah and his allies after PCM failed to gain significant political traction over its 16-year history.
Hamzah had also said Wawasan’s participation in the Negeri Sembilan state election would be decided following discussions with PN’s central leadership on seat allocations and candidates.
Polling for the Negeri Sembilan election is scheduled for Aug 1, with nomination day on July 18 and early voting on July 28. - FMT
