SHAH ALAM: Rapid KL has confirmed that a recent incident involving a Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line train was caused by a technical issue affecting one of the train's components that came into contact with the power conductor.
Rapid KL said the incident resulted in a small explosion and sparks. However, no injuries were reported and trains continued to operate as usual.
The operator said the incident occurred at about 7.05pm on July 4 at the Shah Alam Stadium station.
"The train was immediately withdrawn from service and all passengers were asked to disembark at the next station before continuing their journey on another train.
"The train was then taken to the depot for a thorough inspection," it said in a statement on Tuesday (July 14).
Rapid KL said the faulty component had since been replaced and the train was allowed to resume service after undergoing inspections certified safe for operation.
"The safety of our passengers remains our top priority and we take every incident involving our services seriously.
"As a preventive measure, inspections and monitoring have also been carried out on other trains," it said. - Star
