Musa Aman’s office slams critics over claims of personal trip to Dubai

Claims on social media that Sabah governor Musa Aman travelled to Dubai for personal reasons are false and misleading, said his office.

The office said the aircraft only made a refuelling stop in Dubai before continuing to Egypt, where Musa took part in several programmes.

These included the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Sabah Islamic Religious Council and Dar Al-Ifta Al-Misriyyah, discussions with Al-Azhar University, the opening of a hall, and attending a gathering with about 350 Sabah students.

Dar Al-Ifta Al-Misriyyah is Egypt’s official Islamic advisory and judicial authority based in Cairo.

In a statement, the office also said Musa’s use of the official aircraft to perform the umrah in Mecca after the official visit was a privilege granted by the state government, which was also extended to his predecessor.

“Allegations that Musa’s overseas travel was undertaken for personal purposes are completely false,” it said.

It criticised claims that his travel arrangements amounted to a misuse of public funds, saying such allegations were intended to tarnish his reputation, and politicise the institution of the Sabah governor. - FMT
