DPM Muhyiddin: My loyalty to PM Najib cannot be questioned

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that his relationship with the prime minister is good and that he knows where he stands.

"The prime minister is my boss. The issue of loyalty should not even be questioned," he told reporters after launching a new book entitled 'Najib Tun Razak Melakar Transformasi Malaysia' at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex today.

In the book, said Muhyiddin (left), one of the chapters explained how they work together very well and that they have a good relationship. He explained that his loyalty to Premier Najib Abdul Razak had never wavered since the start.

"I have always been supportive of the PM especially now that he had given me the responsibility to be his deputy as well as the education minister," he said.

He also claimed that there had never been any crisis between them and said that this is an issue created by the opposition.

"I have said this many times, I will always support him Najib," he said.

Inclusive policies

Umno observers had been wondering if all was well within Umno with some seeing signs of a movement against Najib and led by those with considerable influence in Umno.

There was talk that there were Umno old guards said to be dissatisfied with their president, with Muhyiddin not left out of the equation.

Possible reasons for the dissatisfaction include Najib's inclusive policies, which some believe overtly benefit the non-Malay community.

However, analysts said that it is still too early to speculate about serious in-fighting between the party's top brass.

Indeed Muhyiddin has recently come out strongly in support of Najib and the 1Malaysia concept which he said that people were actually beginning to understand and accept the concept which emphasises the country's cultural diversity.
