The Chief Secretary to the Government had announced earlier today the appointment of Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) Director Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi to the post effective January 1.
The state government is singing a different tune, stressing that Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has to be officially informed of this development.
“The appointment of the Selangor state secretary has not been finalised. This is because Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was never informed of Datuk Khusrin Munawi’s appointment by the Chief Secretary.
“The mentri besar has therefore sent a letter to the Sultan of Selangor informing him that he was not aware of the said decision,” said a statement from the Selangor MB’s office today.
The statement said that the state government went through a “selection process” for the post by assigning a panel of judges to interview potential candidates. The panel has shortlisted three names most suitable for the post.
“The Mentri Besar has sent the three names to the Sultan of Selangor for his approval. In light of this the Mentri Besar will also be having an audience with the Sultan on December 29,” the statement said.
The statement comes hours after the announcement by Mohd Sidek saying that the Jais director would be taking over the state secretary duties from Datuk Ramli Mahmud, leaves on December 31.
The post of Jais director, vacated by Khusrin, will be filled by Sabak Bernam District Officer Marzuki Hussin, 56, also on Jan 1, according to the Chief Secretary.
Mohd Sidek also said the appointments of Mohd Khusrin and Marzuki had received the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. - Malaysian Insider
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 — Selangor claimed today the appointment of a new state secretary had not yet been finalised despite Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan's announcement, in what is turning into a major tussle between the Pakatan Rakyat state government and federal authorities.
