Prawn farm row: Noh calls Sekinchan rep 'stupid'
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar today blasted Sekinchan state assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim for harping on claims that the Umno leader received state land for a prawn farm after becoming MP.
In a scathing attack, Noh who is Tanjung Karang MP, said Ng's "stupidity was apparent" as he was ignorant of the land application process.
Noh explained that the Umno-controlled Selangor exco had approved the land on March 8, 1995 and he only became an MP in April the same year.
"He only looked at form 5A (which verifies land ownership)... It was only after the exco had approved it that the 5A form was released.
"I challenge him - now that he is in the state government - to look back at the state documents on when the land was approved by the exco," he said.
No stake in prawn farm
Noh urged Ng (below), who is from DAP, to stop politicising the matter.
"The more he talks about the prawn farm, the more stupid he looks. I have already explained that the project started 16 years ago, not now... It started even before I became a minister," he said.
Noh had previously denied that he had acquired the Tanjung Karang land while he was in office and explained that he is nothing more than a landlord after renting the land out to a prawn farm operator.
On Sept 26, Ng had questioned Noh's explanation, claiming that he was lying about the 12-hectare land.
Noh today reiterated his defence and stressed that he had no stake in the prawn farm business.
