IS THIS A THREAT? Legal action against Selangor if agreement not reached over Langat Two - Ongkili

IS THIS A THREAT? Legal action against S'gor if agreement not reached over Langat Two - Ongkili
KUALA LUMPUR - The federal government could take action under the National Water Supply Act if an agreement with the Selangor state government could not be reached to proceed with the Langat Two Water Treatment Plant.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said the measure would be taken in the interest of the country and to ensure the wellbeing of the people was protected.
"The project was scheduled for completion in March 2014. It has been postponed because the state government has directed the local authority to freeze the project's development order.
"In this regard, the ministry has urged the Selangor state government to cooperate in finding a final solution on supply of water in the state and issue a development order, a planning approval for the Langat Two Water Treatment project," he said.
He was replying to Charles Santiago (DAP-Klang) who intervened the winding up of debate on the 2014 Supply Bill for the ministry at the Dewan Rakyat today.
