PAS Youth today urges the authorities to launch an investigation between the links between the fake identity cards (IC) syndicate and the infamous Project IC in Sabah.
According to its vice chief Raja Ahmad Iskandar Raja Yaacob, the recent arrest of more than 10 security guards with fake ICs was serious and has a big impact on national security.
Because of those arrested are from Sabah, believed to be originated from Philippines, Raja Ahmad said there could be possibly be linked to Project IC.
“Of course the people are asking whether those with fake ICs are registered voters that can vote in election,” he asked.
'Project IC' was a secretive project to dish out Malaysian citizenship to foreigners in Sabah for voting purposes.
A former Sandakan district officer, Hassnar Ebrahim, 62, who was once detained under the Internal Security Act, claimed that 130,000 illegal immigrants had been given Malaysian identity cards since 1985.
It was alleged that the project was created to oust Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), which at that time was not part of Barisan Nasional.
Raja Ahmad said the government should view the matter seriously and stopped offering excuses to deny the matter.
“To us, this is matter of security, and all must unite to eradicate this problem for the safety of our country,” he urged.
