Gerakan vice-president Asharuddin Ahmad has slammed fellow BN man, Umno Cheras division head Syed Ali Alhabshee, for having warned Chines and Indians from "taking advantage of Malays' kindness".
Syed Ali was quoted by online portal Free Malaysia Today two days ago as saying that Chinese and Indians in the country should not "trample on Malay heads".
The report stated that he was responding to calls for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to boycott the Commonwealth summit in Sri Lanka this weekend, and also regarding the controversialdemolition of the annexe of the Sri Muneswarar temple in Jalan P Ramlee.
However, in a statement today, Asharuddin demanded that Syed Ali apologise for his remarks.
"Racial chauvinism of all shades must be stopped as well as distasteful fear mongering.
"(The statement) is a huge insult to other races that have made huge sacrifices and contributions to bring Malaysia to its current achievement," Asharuddin said.
