BORDER RUSH! Malaysians flee as explosions rock Danok
BUKIT KAYU HITAM - THE bombings in Sadao yesterday have caused Malaysian tourists to flee the southern Thai district.
Their rush for the border caused a 1.5km traffic jam at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex .
New Straits Times Press Bhd (NSTP) advertising employee Nazaria Zahrin, 42, was one of the Malaysians enjoying their weekend in Dannok.
Nazaria said she and her family had just arrived in Dannok for shopping after a holiday in Hat Yai.
"I was buying fruits when the explosions happened. I immediately told the tour van driver to drive us straight to the Bukit Kayu Hitam border.
"The situation was chaotic as many made a dash for the CIQ Complex."

Another Malaysian, M. Suresh, 40, said he was standing with his family just 200m from the explosion.
"We were there to buy souvenirs to take back to Ipoh, but we ditched the plan and made a dash for home." - NST
