KUALA LUMPUR - The Warriors Council of Malaysia (MPM) today called on those planning to hold a gathering on Dec 31 purportedly to overthrow the government to give up the idea.
Its advisor, Datuk Ahmad Mazlan, said gatherings and the use of force would not bring any good to the people or country as they were only futile acts.
"If they want to have a discussion with the government or hand over a memorandum, they can do so in a civilised manner. There are laws.
"The government has always been open in listening to the people on their problems or needs," he told a news conference after opening the MPM general meeting, here.
MPM president Tan Sri Omar Din Mauju and MPM Satria Muda head Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omar Din were also present at the event.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said recently that the police viewed seriously the distribution of posters on the gathering on social websites and would investigate the matter under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
Ahmad, who is deputy finance minister, called on the security forces to act immediately against those who intended to disrupt peace and harmony. – Bernama
