Gamuda eyes PNB and Selangor's stake in Kesas
Gamuda Bhd has made fresh bids to acquire Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) and Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor's (PKNS) stake in Kesas Holdings Bhd.
This follows the Selangor government's announcement that it would, through PKNS, object to increase in toll charges by Kesas and other highway operators which the state has a stake in.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Gamuda said it has received an acceptance in principle from PNB. PNB has a 30 percent stake in Kesas while PKNS has a 20 percent stake.
Initially, Gamuda had a 30 percent stake in Kesas and later became the biggest shareholder after acquiring Amcorp Properties Bhd's 20 percent stake.
Most highway operators are set to raise toll charges next month as the federal government withdraws subsidies.
