The media group has been accused of publishing articles on 1MDB that have created confusion and doubts about the government and financial institutions.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Edge Media Group has sought an extension of seven days to reply in detail to a show cause letter from the Home Ministry on why action should not be taken against Edge Malaysia and the Edge Financial Daily for publishing articles alleged to be inaccurate on 1MDB.
Its publisher and chief executive officer Ho Kay Tat in a media statement here today said they received a show cause letter from the Home Ministry yesterday on the issue and have been given seven days to provide a written explanation.
“We are accused of publishing articles on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) that have created confusion and doubts about the government and our financial institutions. We are also accused of relying on an Internet portal for our articles.
“As we have stated previously, we stand by the articles we have published and we intend to show it,” he said.
