Prime minister tweets his hopes that the Malaysian selection will perform with full of spirit and determination.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak hopes the Malaysian selection will exhibit the spirit of the tiger when facing English giants Liverpool at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight.
“Tonight, I hope the Malaysian selection will perform full of spirit and determination. Malaysian players, show @LFC our spirit of the tiger,” Najib said in a Twitter message at 6.28 pm.
The last time Liverpool played in Malaysia was in 2011 when the squad under K Rajagopal gave a sterling performance at the National Stadium before losing 3-6.
Yesterday, The Reds trounced Super League club, Felda United 7-0 in a training match at the National Stadium.
The Merseyside club started their pre-season tour by cowing Thai All-Stars 4-0 in Bangkok on July 14 then beat Australian League club Brisbane Roar 2-1 three days later before defeating Adelaide United 2-0 on Monday.
The Reds will play their final pre-season match in northern Europe against Finish club, HJK Helsinki on August 1.
Kick-off is at 8.45pm.
