He said all quarters were requested to wait for the meeting, seen as the best platform to discuss the issue objectively to ensure that Umno remained relevant among the people.
"We in the council will have a heart-to-heart discussion on whatever differences of opinion we may have," he told reporters at the Aidilfitri reception of the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) in Putrajaya today.
Irmohizam, who is the LKIM chairman, was commenting on a statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who urged the government to take immediate measures to resolve the nation's problems, particularly the 1MDB issue, so that they would not burden the party.
He said that prior to the supreme council meeting, Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak was scheduled to give a closed-door briefing to party divisional leaders comprising the divisional chiefs, divisional deputy chiefs, women's wing chiefs, youth wing chiefs and puteri wing chiefs.
"It is now up to the party president to explain (the issue)," Irmohizam said.
He said what was most important for Umno and Barisan Nasional now was managing the public perception. – Bernama
