The Indian Muslim community in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur, had an enjoyable occasion here.
Kampung Pandan Madrasah chairman Pakri Mohamed Mohd Ismail, 67, said the annual ritual of sacrifice was a must at each festival over the past 30 years, since the madrasah was built.
“Today, 200 goats and sheep were sacrificed and the meat distributed to various people,” he told Bernama today.
He said the ritual began at 10am with the assistance of 150 people to process the sacrificial animals and the meat was then distributed to participants, orphans and the poor.
Apart from that, Pakri Mohamed said 23 goats were sacrificed and cooked at the site as a feast for 2,000 people.
“It appears there is not much difference between the Aidiladha celebration of the Indian Muslims and the other communities. It is just that we prefer to sacrifice goats, and briyani is an essential item served at the occasion,” he said. – Bernama
