He said they should together uphold the peace and the Constitution, which were being challenged by certain parties.
Partisanship, he said, would only weaken the unity of Muslims and would undermine their strength and dignity.
"We must be also be morderate in all matters, and not exceed limits as outlined in Islam," he said in his message in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration today.
In the spirit of the theme "Sehati Sejiwa" (Of One Heart, One Soul) for National Day and Malaysia Day this year, the Prime Minister said Muslims must be willing to sacrifice, come together, and express solidarity especially in matters of faith, shariah and morals.
"Never work with those who want to use us as a bridge to achieve their wishes and goals, and in the process, disrupt the country," he said.
Najib said the Islamic world viewed Malaysia as unique and the best development model for an Islamic state and therefore, the Muslims here should unite and preserve the unity of the various races in the country to ensure stability.
"Islam teaches us peace, unity and equality. Therefore, Muslims should respect other religions to create a harmonious society and country.
In his message, the prime minister also offered his condolences to the families of Malaysian Haj pilgrims killed in the crane-collapse tragedy at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
"May all the family members be given the strength and patience to overcome the test of fate. May Allah bestow them with the best reward," he said.
Najib also urged Muslims in the country to appreciate the august occasion of Aidiladha, which will be celebrated by Muslims in Malaysia tomorrow and derive inspiration from it.
"Let us strive to realise the meaning of sacrifice in each of our daily actions, obeying the calls of Allah and His Messenger to fulfill the demands of faith and piety (of our religion) which we have acknowledged," he said. – Bernama
