Embattled Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir has vowed that he would defend his position, even if he is offered a federal minister's post.
He said he is neither corrupt nor involved in any scandals, and to sack him as menteri besar merely because he frequently travels to Kuala Lumpur is not a good reason.
Mukhriz noted that the sudden storm came at a time of peace and all because he spoke the truth, but party leaders refused to listen to the truth.
According to a Sin Chew Daily report, he told a crowd after prayers in Alor Setar last night that he has led the state with integrity.
Mukhriz urged the media not to speculate who or when a new menteri besar will be sworn in and noted the fact that nobody has met the state regency council.
He said he is still the MB and will defend the position because he will not betray the people in the state.
Mukhriz said the political crisis in Kedah could be taken as a warning shot aimed at other state chief ministers and menteris besar. -Mkini
