ALOR SETAR - It has been widely rumored that Kedah Umno deputy chairman cum Bakar Bata state assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah will be sworn in as the new menteri besar on February 1.
It is also said that the incumbent MB Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir will have to move out of the menteri besar's office by this Thursday.
Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is said to endorse Ahmad Bashah as the new MB and the appointment has obtained the nod from the King Tuanku Abdul Halim and the chairman of the Kedah Council of Regency.
"The PM is expected to make the announcement after chairing the Umno Supreme Council meeting on Friday."
It is also said that Ahmad Bashah may make a drastic state cabinet reshuffle that will see five incumbent executive councilors replaced.
