'AS A KELANTANESE, I AM ASHAMED & I APOLOGIZE TO ALL M'SIANS' - HUSAM FLAYS KU LI'S U-TURN TO NAJIB'S SIDE
SHAH ALAM — Former PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa urged Malaysians today not to racialise the Save Malaysia movement that has seen vitriol against the predominantly Chinese DAP.
Husam said Malaysians should put aside their differences and focus on the bigger picture that he said was to save the country.
“Do not make this uprising a racial issue, a religious issue or ‘perkauman’ (racism). This is not a choice but the responsibility of all,” he said in a speech at the Kongres Rakyat 2016 organised by the Save Malaysia movement at Shah Alam Convention Centre here.
“Red Shirt” members rallied at former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s office in Putrajaya earlier this month to protest against the Citizens’ Declaration launched by the Save Malaysia movement that calls for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s removal.
“Red Shirt” leader Datuk Jamal Md Yunos, who is also Umno Sungai Besar chief, had accused Dr Mahathir of betraying the Malays by working with the DAP in the Save Malaysia movement headed by the former Umno president.
Husam, who is Salor assemblyman from Kelantan PAS, also said today that the signing of the “Kelantan Declaration”, a document pledging loyalty to Najib, was a direct response to the Save Malaysia movement’s Citizens’ Declaration.
Husam said he was disappointed in the declaration signed by Umno veteran Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and other Kelantan Umno lawmakers.
“I, as a Kelantanese, am ashamed. And I apologise to all Malaysians for that,” Husam told the audience.
