Cook caught sticking Najib caricature on police car pleads not guilty

A cook who was caught sticking a caricature of the prime minister on a police patrol car during the Goods and Services Tax (GST) protest rally in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday, was today charged in the Magistrate’s Court.
Muhammad Zhafran Muhammad Zuhdi, 24, pleaded not guilty to disturbing the peace under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of two years or fine or both, upon conviction.
“The accused had pasted a cartoon image of the prime minister on a police multi-purpose vehicle, he did not cause any provocation,” lawyer Farida Muhammad, representing the accused told Magistrate Jesseca Daimis when asked what was on the sticker.
Muhammad Zhafran was alleged to have committed the offence at Jalan Melayu, Off Jalan Tun Perak, Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur at 3.30pm on April 2.
Prosecuting officer ASP Zuraimi Kamarozzaman offered bail at RM3,000 with one surety, but Farida appealed that bail be reduced to RM500 as her client had to support his parents and could attend court as he worked at night.
Jesseca set bail at RM1,200 with one surety and fixed April 28 for mention.
