S'WAK POLLS Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today announced an allocation of RM70 million to build a bridge at Kampung Long Lama, which is located in the Telang Usan constituency.
Zahid earlier used the ferry services used by the people for their transportation in the area to visit two villages separated by Sungei Baram.
"After experiencing the ferry services myself...I spoke to Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Rural and Regional Development Minister) about building a bridge quickly.
"I later contacted Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and he immediately approved an allocation of RM70 million to build the bridge," Zahid told reporters after launching a project to upgrade the current logging road in Long Lama and a session with Rela members.
The deputy prime minister had earlier arrived at Long Lama after a two-hour drive from Miri, covering a distance of 140km.
