Favourite sons from both sides walk the plank

YOURSAY | How did Rosmah's son Riza Aziz, 39, get over RM500 million?
Aries46: If 1MDB did not finance ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and if the billions in ringgit that allegedly went into PM Najib Razak's account since 2011 were all donations and if tycoon Jho Low never siphoned any of its funds from its JV (joint ventures) with IPIC and bond issues and if it is honestly squeaky clean as claimed by 1MDB chief executive Arul Kanda, what happened to the billions that allegedly disappeared from it that necessitated the sale of its power assets and cheaply acquired state land to cover up its holes at great loss to the nation?
And what is the position of 1MDB's audited accounts? Stagnated since March 2014? Denials alone without substantive proof will only fuel further suspicion simply because 1MDB's credibility considering its track record of corruption, scandals and international infamy is in tatters and a curse on the nation.
FellowMalaysian: The maze of intricate transfer of funds from 1MDB to various companies unrelated to their nature of business and the use of shady and hideous offshore bank operations from Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands (BVI) are redolent of high-handed manoeuvers schemers resort to in their effort to bypass the scrutiny of state investigators from various countries.
But the web is being untangled by the authorities from these very countries now including US where the movie was made and it will soon be revealed how Red Granite and Riza Aziz's funding and wealth were derived from.
Anticonmen: Luxembourg, Switzerland and BVI are some of the money-laundering centres in the world where you can form US$2 dollar companies.
The US$1.4 billion from 1MDB was supposed to go to Aabar Investment PJS as a loan collateral but it was allegedly diverted to a bogus BVI company called Aabar Investments PJS Ltd.
How did PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor's son Riza Aziz, 39, get over RM500 million to fund a Hollywood film? Answer that.
Sleepy: "Investigators in two countries believe that US$155 million (RM603 million) from 1MDB went to production company Red Granite Pictures to make the 2013 hit movie ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, according to a WSJ report."
My understanding of this report is "from 1MDB" not "by 1MDB".
Aries46: DAP leader Lim Kit Siang, while the persecution of your son is sad, if they succeed they will get recognised and promoted. Maybe even a title bestowed. But if they even as much as smell near Najib, they will be without a job in no time.
Didn't all of us witness it a few months ago when the special task force was dismantled and some investigators that seemingly crossed the line raided and punished?
As anti-corruption crusaders their integrity on big fishes goes as far as safeguarding their perks and pay packets. Their heroism is reserved for the likes of Teoh Beng Hock and opposition leaders, who can be bullied.
We are not at the top rungs of the global corruption index for nothing. Any wonder why when five nations in three continents are investigating the 1MDB shenanigans, our own attorney-general and law enforcers are looking the other way? They call it 'cari makan'.
Waktamnoko: Lim, two wrongs did not make a right. If BN leaders were corrupted which many believed they were, they deserved to be dealt with accordingly.
But surely you are not suggesting that Penang CM Lim Guan Eng should not be swiftly investigated? Why are you so worried if MACC and PDRM acted with 'lightning' speed to investigate Guan Eng?
This is the best chance for the DAP to hit back at BN, if after all the investigations they did not find any evidence to charge him. Or are you not that certain of his innocence?
Most diehard DAP supporters believed that Guan Eng is a saint who can do no wrong. Their comments in numerous opposition blogs, sometimes bordering on sheer stupidity do show their true attitude towards the truth, and by extension the DAP.
And those are the people who accused Umno Malays of being backward and not enlightened. But in doing so, they showed themselves as being no different from those they called backward and stupid.
CQ Muar: Against the opposition, MACC is widely known as graft buster. But insofar as the PM is concerned, they're nothing but dust-buster.
They seem to only pledge allegiance to PM and his government, conveniently forgetting that taxpayers are their actual paymasters.
Yes, both (Najib and CM Guan Eng) have denied wrongdoing – the only difference is the former involved RM42 billion and the latter RM2.8 million.
While the former declared the mega billions derived from "generous" donors, the latter had to raise a bank loan plus cash up-front.
Under such a scenario, it is regrettable that MACC is still unable the see the difference.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: There is no use telling these people that they are not fair in their actions. They know it, but what do they care?
You can scream and compare the seriousness of embezzling RM42 billion compared to a mere RM2 million, they would still turn a deaf ear to you.
Teoh was quizzed intensely for as little of RM2,000 and if compared to the treatment given to Najib, not only would you complain of unfairness, God would as well.
So what? As long as the masters are pleased, other considerations don’t matter. -Mkini
