Umno grassroots leaders file ROS report on Muhyiddin's suspension

The Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia (GKCM) has filed a report with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) regarding Muhyiddin Yassin's suspension as Umno deputy president.
Speaking to reporters after lodging the report in Putrajaya today, GKCM vice president Mohd Solihan Badri said an investigation would be carried out.
"He (the ROS) is treating this as a big case and has assigned an officer to investigate (our) letter. They will do the appropriate investigation," he added.
GKCM deputy president Mohamad Zin Mustapa said the report was lodged because the Umno supreme council and party secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had "acted as they like" in suspending Muhyiddin.
He stressed that the party's constitution is not to be interpreted according to self-interest.
"Lately Umno has acted excessively in taking action against anyone who is not of the same view as the party president.
"This is a dark period in Umno's history," he added.
As such, he said CGKM requested ROS to investigate Muhyiddin's suspension, which the group claims is clearly against party constitution.
"Muhyiddin's suspension has clear signs of betrayal," said Mohamad Zin.
He also pointed out that a few days before Muhyiddin's suspension, there were several individuals from Umno who had "stoked the fire".
This, he said, showed that the voices of a few leaders have more weight than the party constitution.
ROS should look into this matter, he added, because a constitution is an important foundation for any registered organisation.
He then questioned why Muhyiddin was not called before the party's disciplinary committee prior to him being suspended.
"Any wrongdoing done by a member should be referred to the party constitution.
"Otherwise what's the point of the constitution?" he asked.
Responding to Tengku Adnan, who had said that the party's decision cannot be challenged in court or by the ROS, Mohamad Zin said that was just the secretary-general's opinion. -Mkini
