Dr M, time for you to spread the word in rural areas

YOURSAY | ‘Mahathir created the monster but at least he is trying to eliminate it…’
Odin Tajué: Correct, correct, correct! Of course, 1MDB former chief executive officer Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi acted on PM Najib Razak's instruction. That is why he has not been punished.
He has also stated that Najib objected to the evaluation of PetroSaudi International's imagined oilfield assets offshore Turkmenistan.
And because he has done what Najib instructed him to, he was allegedly rewarded with a director's position in Pemandu and that of the president and CEO of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation.
And, of course, all the money that has been transferred into Najib's personal bank accounts had come from 1MDB, albeit indirectly, except the RM69 million, which had come from SRC International.
All the talk about gift, donation, Arab donors, Saudi royal family donor, and Saudi prince donor is nothing but a load of camel dung.
SteveOh: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad's analysis on 1MDB makes sense. How can anyone act without proper authorisation is a pertinent question.
Ask any professional CEO of a public company if he or she will dare act on any matter involving the quantum of funds involved in the 1MDB scandal without the board's approval. I doubt you'll get any positive answer.
What arouses our suspicions is the manner the allegations of wrongdoings have been managed. For someone who claims innocence, regrettably Najib has yet to convince his critics. People no longer trust him or his words and that's untenable for a leader.
Events subsequent to the raising of the alarm that something was remiss in 1MDB were more consistent with the acts of a cover-up than an unhindered disclosure of the truth.
That 1MDB was created as a future fund but has no future, and that it is being quickly wound up makes no sense. The government's hurry to wind up 1MDB is yet another reason for scepticism when many questions remain unanswered. Indeed, Mahathir is spot on.
Anonymous 29051438068738: Bravo! This is 1MDB Primer for Dummies.
So clearly explained that even the morally bankrupt, semi-literate, English-challenged rent-seekers, (carefully nurtured over 22 years by one Mahathir Mohamad) will understand with no difficulty.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Given so much concessions like cheap land and government-guaranteed loans, any reasonable businessman would have made billions by now instead of incurring billions in debts.
Najib, being the person vested with ultimate power in making decisions on all investments in the company, must bear the responsibility for the loss.
While the world over is busy trying to find culprits who might have cheated the company of billions of dollars, our government appears indifferent to the scandal.
Najib should be getting the best men to unearth the crooks. No, he just did the opposite, avoiding and evading serious questions on 1MDB.
Kingfisher: Reading the details elaborated, one is left with a strong suspicion that the Finance Ministry is culpable in wrongdoing and misuse of power.
Yet the single most significant person in the middle of this scandal has denied any wrongdoing. And he seems to go about uncaring of any possible consequences following the dereliction of responsibility as alleged.
And by and large those in governance under his leadership and those whom he leads as party leaders have in the main accepted his pledge of no wrongdoing without reservation and want him to remain as leader.
There is never going to be a rational resolve as suggested by the former PM in such an atmosphere.
The nation is obviously in a dilemma and the present problems appear to be a consequence of a set of factors arising out of years of socio-economic engineering peculiar to this national setting.
The onus for progress is in the hands of those in power and people must continue to hope good will eventually come about before irreparable damage is done.
Existential Turd: What Najib did was simply the MO (modus operandi) of Umno and BN writ large.
Dr M is not telling us something we don't already know. Go spread the news to the rural Malays.
Dr M must realise he cannot bring down Najib without bringing down Umno. They are inextricably linked. The question to ask is whether he hates Najib more than he loves Umno.
Cogito Ergo Sum: When a former PM pens these accusations, surely some form of action must be initiated to verify the authenticity of its content. But going by past conduct, the complainant will be the one probed.
It is shameless that nothing concrete has been said to rebut these accusations, that increasingly as the days go by, seem to be more than just mere allegations.

Unfortunately, there is systemic rot in the entire framework that removing Najib alone will be similar to removing one termite in a nest of thousands. -Mkini
