Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam drummed up fears of Malays and Islam being threatened, and went on to call Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad a “mamak” and a demon at a Malay rights rally in Perak tonight.
Speaking at the Himpunan Melayu Bangkit (Malays Arise Rally) in Pasir Salak, Lokman questioned the rationale of appointing a non-Muslim attorney-general who will also have the powers to prosecute the Malay rulers.
"The attorney-general has the power to prosecute any yang di-pertua negeri, any sultan and also the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in a special court that was created by that mamak prime minister (bendahara) and demon (si puaka) named Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"We can't possibly sit quietly, we must rise up, correct?" he told thousands present at the rally (photo).
Lokman, who was BN's candidate for the recent Sungai Kandis by-election, then led the crowd in chants of "Hidup Melayu" (long live Malays) and "Hancur DAP" (Destroy DAP).
Tommy Thomas was appointed as attorney-general in June.
"Have we (BN) ever appointed a communist sympathiser? Have we ever appointed someone who was close to the communist leader Chin Peng? Never.
"Have we ever, since British rule, appointed a non-Muslim to be the attorney-general?" he said.
For the record, the Alliance government - BN’s predecessor - had appointed Cecil Majella Sheridan, a non-Muslim, as attorney-general from 1959 to 1963.
'CJ opposes Islam'
Lokman also touched on the appointment of Richard Malanjum as chief justice, the first East Malaysian to occupy the country’s top judicial post.
"He has a clear record of opposing Islam... Why do I say he opposes Islam? In Malaysia, if a Muslim wants to marry a non-Muslim, the non-Muslim must become a Muslim.
"But when Richard Malanjum married Marina Tiu, who was the daughter of Jaafar Tiu and was born as a Muslim, when she married Malanjum, Malanjum did not become a Muslim.
"Instead, Marina Tiu was allowed to convert out of Islam. In Islam, someone who has become a Muslim cannot convert out of Islam," he said.
Malaysiakini is currently unable to verify Lokman’s claim about Tiu.
Lokman also picked on Malanjum's court decisions, including those in the religious conversion cases of Lina Joy and Indira Gandhi, claiming that he was against Islam.
He added that Malanjum will also be responsible for selecting judges in cases that involve the interest of Islam.
"Do you feel safe? Do you think those cases will be in our favour? As Malays, we have reason to feel anxious.
"We have the right to rise up and object and demand our rights," he said.
The rally was organised by Umno's Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and streamed live on Facebook by Utusan Malaysia.

Lokman Adam is a desperate MORON. He lost the privilege and sources of income when UMNO/BN was kicked out during PRU14, thus he "meroyan". UMNO would be totally buried if these goons continue to play racial cards.
