SERI SETIA POLLS | PAS' candidate for the Seri Setia by-election Dr Halimah Ali today claimed that her PKR opponent Halimey Abu Bakar had been distributing state-sponsored goodies to voters.
In contrast, Halimah said the goodies she had given out were sponsored by PAS and its supporters.
"I see it everywhere. The programme this afternoon at PJS6, Desa Mentari - the government (machinery) giving away goodies. So what is that?
"The MP in the area is Maria Chin Abdullah, she was with (electoral reform group) Bersih... Is this bersih (clean)? Is this kind of campaigning bersih?
"We in PAS don't get the money to give things like that. They are from PAS people, from Johor, ikan patin from Pahang - I didn't buy them. It is the PAS people who bring it and cook it.
"Even the tents and flags are from PAS," she told journalists at a PAS event in Ampang.
Yesterday, PAS supporters distributed bags labelled with the PAS logo that contained staples including rice, cooking oil and soy sauce at Taman Desaria flats in PJS5.
Halimah accused Pakatan Harapan of being similar to the previous BN government.
"That is why we need the opposition's voice in the Selangor state assembly," she said.
The Seri Setia by-election will see a direct contest between PAS and Harapan after Umno decided to make way for PAS. PKR's Halimey will be contesting under the Harapan logo.
Polling day will take place on Sept 8.
