Loke: No giving in to Grab drivers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry will not give in to e-hail drivers over the need for a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence by July next year.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook (pic) said that those e-hail drivers who refuse to do so will be hauled up by the authorities.

"If you are earning a few thousands of ringgit a month, there is no excuse not to get a PSV. The taxi drivers are gunning me and I want to make this a level playing field. No extension of date," says Loke.

He was speaking to the media after the launch of an unlimited travel pass here on Saturday (Dec 1).

All e-hail drivers including Grab drivers must get a PSV by July 2019. Some e-hail drivers are saying that it is not necessary and say they will protest by quitting by June 2019, one month before the enforcement date.- Star
