Child splashed with hot water: Mother arrested, father on the run

An eight-year-old child was injured when her foster father poured hot water on her because she allegedly stole pocket money for school.
According to a police source, the foster mother was arrested yesterday while the father is on the run.
"Preliminary investigations found that the kid is a foster child to both the individuals in their fifties, who have a business selling fish at the Selangor pasar borong in Seri Kembangan.
"We are still investigating this case for abuse. The father has run away, while the foster mother, who just came back from overseas, was arrested yesterday," said the source who did not want to be named.
Malaysiakini is currently trying to contact the Serdang district police headquarters for more information.
In the incident, which took place three days ago at Zeva Residence, Seri Kembangan, it is believed that the father threw hot water at the child's face after he found out that she had been allegedly stealing pocket money to go to school.
"Due to that, the child's face, arms, body and legs suffered serious burns. Even worse, the father did not take the child for medical treatment.
"The man, from Ipoh, Perak, is on the run after realising that the abuse incident has been found out by the police," said the source.
The child is now receiving treatment at a hospital. - Mkini
