H&M's pro-LGBT 'Love for All' range not sold in Malaysia, says rep

Swedish fashion retailer H&M today confirmed that its 'Love For All' subcollection launched in support of the LGBT community is not available for sale in Malaysia.
In an email to Malaysiakini, H&M Malaysia & Singapore communications manager Abby Wee pointed out that the brand has a presence in 72 markets worldwide.
"With multiple collections launching each season, it is up to each local market to decide on what collections to carry," she said.
Umno supreme council member Fathul Bari Mat Jahya yesterday questioned purported links between H&M's Malaysian stores and a United Nations campaign in support of the LGBT community.
Taking to Twitter, Fathul Bari (photo) responded to another tweet that called for a boycott of the brand over its 'Love For All' collection, which features a range of rainbow-inspired designs and messages promoting equal rights to love.
"I want to ask @hmmalaysia. Is H&M Malaysia also involved in the LGBT campaign as featured on the ig (Instagram) of H&M (UK) and United Nations Free & Equal ig?
"That 10 percent of sales will be donated to the UN Free & Equal movement to support the LGBT struggle? Thank you @azmanhaj," he said.
While Fathul Bari's supporters echoed his call for a boycott, others pointed out it would be hypocritical to do so as there were many other major brands that supported equal rights for all.
H&M global marketing and communications director Sara Spännar in a statement previously said the capsule collection was available only at selected stores worldwide for the entire month of May.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights launched its free and equal global public information campaign in July 2014 to promote equal rights and fair treatment of LGBT people.  - Mkini
