‘JHO LOW – WHEREVER YOU ARE, I CAN’T GET YOU ANOTHER US$4.5 BILLION’ – BUTT OF JOKES NAJIB & JHO LOW HIT THE BIG TIME ON U.S. TELEVISION: POPULAR COMEDIAN RUNS NAJIB’S UNFORGETTABLE ‘ARE YOU READY FOR PSY, ARE YOU READY FOR BN’ VIDEO – TELLS JHO LOW ‘I CAN’T GET YOU ACQUITTED BUT IF YOU TURN YOURSELF…’

GEORGE TOWN: American television comedian Hasan Minhaj has offered the “wildest Psy concert” if fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, decides to turn himself in to the authorities over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal.
In the latest episode of his Netflix show “Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj”, he said:
“Jho Low, if you are watching, wherever you are, I can’t get you another $4.5 billion. I can’t get you acquitted, but if you turn yourself in, there is one thing I can get you: The biggest, wildest Psy concert the world has ever seen. Psy, if you are watching, where you are, I am calling in that favour.”
Jho Low, who is wanted for questioning over funds linked to 1MDB, is believed to have arranged for South Korean entertainer Psy to appear at a free public concert in Penang a month before the 13th general election in 2013.
Minhaj also aired a video clip of Najib Razak at the concert, at which the former PM asked the crowd, “Are you ready for Psy, are you ready for BN?”.
In today’s episode entitled “Indian Elections Update and the 1MDB Scandal”, Minhaj explained about sovereign funds, the involvement of investment bankers Goldman Sachs, and charges brought by the US Justice Department against Goldman Sachs.
He described Low as a bespectacled “gulab jamoon” (Indian nickname for a fat person) who had convinced Najib to set-up 1MDB.
He also talked about Low’s lavish spending, such as a clear piano for model Miranda Kerr, Picasso paintings and other purchases, Low’s friendship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and his involvement in the production of the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street”.
“Hmm…a movie about a hard-partying financier, who stole millions of dollars, was made by a hard-partying financier, who stole millions of dollars. That would be like ‘Predator’ directed by Bryan Singer,” Minhaj said in reference to Singer’s sexual assault allegations.
He also spoke about Najib’s relationships with autocrats such as Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, recalling their karaoke sing-along in a 2016 state banquet.
