PAS leader cries foul over 'media plot' to split PAS

A PAS leader has accused certain media organisations of attempting to create a split ahead of the Islamist party's annual general meet or mukatamar end of this month.
Without naming these organisations, vice-president Iskandar Samad their reports are designed to give the impression that there are factions within PAS.
Unlike other parties, he claimed, those in PAS to do not jostle for positions.
“PAS elections are conducted in a harmonious atmosphere and there are no sore losers when the results are announced.
“All leaders and members would continue to work as a team,” he added in a statement this morning.
Iskandar (photo) claimed that the efforts to create divisions in PAS are aimed at weakening the opposition coalition and sabotage the party's cooperation with Umno.
On June 2, Malaysiakini reported about a purported campaign to ensure that two leaders close to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang are elected as vice-presidents during the muktamar.
According to a source, the two are Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
Nik Abduh, who is the son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was implicated in the 'RM90 million from Umno' scandal.
The PAS muktamar is slated to be held from June 21 to 23 in Kuantan, Pahang. - Mkini
