Road rage 2.0: Man hacks windscreen with parang

PETALING JAYA: After a road bully was jailed a year for using his helmetto smash a car windscreen, another driver has been caught on dashcam swinging a parang against a car in moving traffic, presumably in a red mist of road rage.
A one-minute, 23-second clip sans audio, which is making the rounds on Facebook, shows a heated scene between the occupants of a blue Honda Civic and the victim of the bully, who is off-camera.
Initially, the driver and passenger of the Honda exited the vehicle, shouting and making obscene gestures, then returning to their car and driving away.
However, after driving for a few seconds, the driver of the Honda stopped abruptly.
He then got out of his car with a parang and hacked at the windscreen of his victim's car.
The clip, which was shared by Nabeel Naqie II on Facebook Tuesday (June 4), has triggered outrage, with many calling for action against the two road bullies.
Nabeel said the incident took place on Monday (June 3) and pointed out that it was an offence under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 to carry a parang.
“He is not throwing a helmet at the car windscreen. Instead, he took out a machete and slashed it against the car.
“His car plate number is also clearly recorded on video.
"Let’s see how the police will take action,” he said.
Last Friday, factory store assistant Danial Abdullah Tan was sentenced to 12 months in jail for smashing the front windscreen of a car with his helmet, causing losses of about RM600.
The sentence was handed down to Danial after he pleaded guilty to committing mischief.
Danial’s act of road rage was caught by the victim’s dashcam, which went viral on social media last Wednesday, triggering public outrage.
