Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he was “guided by the police investigation” when he said he suspected the gatecrashers at his Friday night event to be linked to Umno.
“I was guided by what was mentioned to me by the police themselves when I was briefed.
"I mentioned it after the briefings, so I'm guided by the police investigation.
“(Let’s) allow the police to complete the investigation and I am very happy to hear that action has been taken on three people and I hope it doesn’t just end there,” he said in a press conference after attending a Malaysian Future Leaders School programme in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Friday night, Syed Saddiq and his parents were allegedly forced to flee when a large group of gatecrashers surrounded their table during a Johor Bersatu Youth gathering.
The minister later said that he suspected the gatecrashers were linked to Umno, an allegation which was swiftly denied by Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. Umno Youth has since lodged a police report over this.
